Why I’m Running

Hollies was born and raised in Minnesota and he currently works as a small business owner in Brooklyn Park. He is running for Mayor because he believes that diversity is one of our biggest strengths, and he will strive tirelessly to create a Brooklyn Park that rises above our differences and works for all of us. As part of preparing our city for the future, he is: dedicated to combating the effects of the COVID-19 crisis by working in tandem with local and state officials; he will strive to create an economy that works for all of us by focusing on small business development, and he will invest in our youth.

COVID RESPONSE & PUBLIC HEALTH

Brooklyn Park has the highest COVID-19 mortality rate in Hennepin County. This startling statistic underscores the need to partner with our local and state officials to ensure public safety and get the virus under control to help save our small businesses

A BROOKLYN PARK ECONOMY FOR US ALL

As a small business owner, Hollies understands firsthand how small businesses struggle. Hollies also comprehends the important sense of community they provide, opportunities they give to families, and just how integral they are to the success of our economy.

KEEPING OUR COMMUNITIES SAFE

Reducing crime, using community policing, and creating youth programming to provide constructive outlets for our young people is something Hollies is committed to. We must invest in our youth to achieve the Brooklyn Park -we- and they- deserve.

ADDRESSING OUR HOUSING CRISIS

Every family should have access to housing that allows them to provide for their loved ones and plan for their retirement.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

In Brooklyn Park, diversity is our asset, not a liability or something to simply be ignored or feared. As Mayor I intend to ensure that Brooklyn Park employees represent the makeup of our constituents. Our diversity is our strength, and we will not only encourage diversity and inclusion practices for our employees, but we will ensure that our outreach efforts and advisors are representative of our community members. Our aim is to build a Brooklyn Park that works for all of us, and that means giving our diverse stakeholders a voice and a seat at the table.

TRANSPORTATION & INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

For many of our families, the current transportation system does not meet their needs. I will look for creative ways to fund investments in our transportation – including support for increased bus service (both East to West and North to South) and investing in the necessary changes to Hwy 252. It’s difficult for people without cars to connect with the city, and it’s difficult for people in the city to connect with Brooklyn Park. I will work with appropriate stakeholders to address these issues.
